Hi there! ( ◕ ◡ ◕)
My name is Mahan Fathi (ماهان فتحی). I am an Iranian researcher in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
I am currently a Research Scientist at Nvidia, where I collaborate with Olivier Delalleau on post-training of Large Language Models.
I did my master's at Mila, advised by Pierre-Luc Bacon. During my master's, I had the priviledge to work as a student researcher at Google DeepMind Montreal, supervised by Ross Goroshin. I received my bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2017. Towards the end of my studies I got involved in Robotics and Control, and found Deep Reinforcement Learning as a very powerful tool to tackle previously unsolved tasks in locomotion, etc. I then worked for 3 years as a Software Engineer, Data Scientist, and Team Leader in top tech companies of Iran, namely CafeBazaar (user-base of 50 millions) and TAPSI. I also spent a summer as a research assistant at Aalto University under the supervision of Perttu Hämäläinen, looking more into model-based RL.
My research interests are pretty broad but I particularly find research that provokes questions to be by far more valuable than work focused on providing answers :)
For a more detailed summary of my experience please refer to my Curriculum Vitae.
